High mileage S80 project

Hi everyone, I just picked up my first ever Volvo.
Despite the high mileage, it drives really well and the 90 minute trip was a breeze. They feel as comfortable as I remember when I first drove the S80 over 20 years ago.
I have a lot of plans for this car, and I have just published the first video on my YouTube channel.

Do you know if the car is on it's original engine and teansmission?

You say in the video it's a 5 cylinder audi engine, is that right? I thought volvo made all their own.. interested to know just out of curiosity really

The very early ones had the Audi engine, Volvo made their own from about 2001/02.

I’m afraid not. The first engine went bang at nearly 350k when a piece of grit got stuck on the belts, or something like that.
The car is on its current second engine which has done now over 368k.
Not sure about the manual transmission, as I have to look at all the invoices.

Ah, so that’s where it ended up. Glad you aren’t banger racing it 😉 this is the car that encouraged me to buy a Volvo, hope to see lots more of it
