Note, when manufacturers put cars into storage for any length of time they disconnect the batteries - well we most certainly did at Ford and Rover Group.

....but aren't new cars in storage in some sort of "hibernation" state? I read somewhere that until they're PDI'd and sold some systems are disabled and power limits are applied etc.

It's not unknown for some new cars to remain unsold for so long that they require new batteries and even brake discs in extreme cases.

Today, I believe it varies according to manufacturer and model. My time at Ford and Rover Group was over 25 years ago when car electronics were simpler and the ability to hibernate the cars systems wasn't there. So as soon as cars went off to the storage compounds they just disconnected the battery

Default C70 flat battery.

Hi chaps, well my battery dies after 2days!! In saying that I had a message flash up saying the alarm needs attention, I thought that it was in relation to the battery issue but I was looking on an American forum and it states the battery can die overnight with an alarm control module fault. So I am thinking my problem lies in that area as most of those who suffer depleting batteries. While I am on what is the issue with the "light switch" please? Tia. Ken M.
