Default 740 towbar wiring

Does anybody know where the towbar wiring connects on a 740 estate ? Is there a grommet entry point somewhere ?

Cheers, Mark

Hello Mark,
I cannot comment regarding the 740 but on my 1992 940 there was no such connection. I had to use a bypass relay and a smart relay and “pick-a-back” from the wiring harness behind the rear nearside load area trim. There is a thread on here somewhere that I used for guidance.

You have two choices Mark, either do what Ian did or take the feeds for the trailer wiring from upstream of the BFU - your Haynes Book of Fantasy (HBoF) will come in useful for wire colours etc) and run the 7-core all the way to the electrical unit behind the ashtray.

It was more where the actual cable from the towbar enters the car

Luke has managed to feed it in via the grommet in rear cubby thingy
