440 diesel engine oil
Anybody have any recommendations about types of engine oil for this car ??
I change it every 5,000 First change used Motaquip semi synth (approx £11.50) and this seemed ok. Last change used Halfords semi skimmed (also approx £11.50..trade card price) but this appears a little thinner and my engine now sounds like 2 tractors when cold (previously sounded like 1 tractor ) I dont like overpaying for oil as the mark up put on by retailers is scandalous,Halfords appears to be over 100% . I dont want to start a techno bullshirt thread as most of the reasonable name oils are...well... reasonable I personally like Millers oils but dont know where to get them at a reasonable price, mail order seems a waste of time as any discount might be swallowed by P&P cheers baz |

For over 50.000km my good old 460TD runs with 10W-40 (do you know this spec?) semisyntec with the specifications ACEA B4, API SL, API CF, MB 229.1, VW 500.00, ACEA B3, VW 505.00, ACEA A3.
Before an Audi80 B3 ran on it for over 150.000km - no probs either. Its only 50€ per 20L -> 2,14UK£/L Never had problems with it, just change regular and don't let the oil-concerns fool you by expensive promises! Just my 2cents (: |
