After my trusty V70 was written off by a hit & run driver I've now taken delivery of my new V40 R Design... The beast!image.jpg

Reminds me of the Lockheed Lightening. Which was basically a bloody great jet engine with a pilot perched on top.

Looks fast just standing still.

Starfighter?

The Lightning (Lockheed version) was somewhat lacking in the jet engine department:

or were you thinking of the English Electric one?

Ah yes, the English Electric Lightning...

I'm looking at a V40 but mine would have to be the more tame D2 1.6 SE Lux, or the Cross Country D3 2.0. The R-Design would be too harsh for me.

I love my cross country but the D3 is still quite pokey. If you want tame I would recommend a D2.

I have a C70 T5 GT at the moment so I think "tame" would be a bit of a come-down... willing to give the D2 a try though. Thanks for the info!

Yes. Senior moment! Should know better really. I made the height and rate of climb instrument for them 50 years ago. Lots of firepower on the Lockheed though.

I'm all new to Volvo and I'm loving my Passion Red V40 D3 LUX Nav, absolutely beautiful looking car inside and out, the leather seats are luxury and the adjustment and memory settings are fantastic.

Excellent spec, 5000miles on a 63 plate (ex-management) I have never been so happy with a car as I am with my Volvo V40.

First Volvo ever and I'm totally impressed.
