Before it was actually a little worse, I moved it as far onto the shaft coming out of the steering box as I could. Thanks for the pictures it looks like the part I was wondering about is normal. I wonder if my whole steering column is mounted in the wrong place :S

I was wondering (out loud) about accident damage to the front having moved the box a little?

That's entirely possible, I'll inspect it more closely tonight.

Did you read my attachment?
They're the same as on an Amazon and you need to drive the old sleeves out, put the new bushes into the sleeves and re-insert. That's all

I think I have the new bushings all in the right place but the parts are not fitting together with the correct spacing. Unless I need to adjust something further up in the steering column?
I inspected the car and it's not bent in any way from an accident. Thanks everyone for the input. |

So have you taken the lower part of the shaft assembly off of the steering box, put it in a vise and hammer the old sleeves out? The bushes won't go into the sleeves unless you've removed them from

I'm not sure what you mean, all the purple bushings are new and in the proper place, I just cant close the gap because the other end of the part is as far towards the steering box as it will go.

You can adjust how far the steering shaft sits on that spline. Mine certainly has more of the spline showing- about 1.5cm. Should give you enough room to attach the other end.
