C-reg 240GLE estate for spares reclaim
Had a look under the floor of my car yesterday, and its very rusty, uneconomic to replace unfortunately. Everything else about the car is fine: electric windows, smoke grey with dark grey fleck cloth interior, 5-speed manual gearbox, mileage unknown (mileometer doesn't work), 2.3 engine and brakes fine.
Faults: bonnet release stiff/seized open, one tailgate strut missing and kids chucked stones at windscreen and one headlamp with predictable results when I left it outside its garage one night. Excellent wings etc, far more valuable as a spares car. Available for sale complete if interested as I don't want a ton of scrap on my frontage, but am prepared to remove items not needing crane, and post. Car in Redhill, Surrey: will photograph bits you might be interested in if you PM with your e-mail address (can't do pics on here). Paul |

Just out of curiosity is it you who lives in the bungalow with 3 or 4 240 estates on the driveway, side road just down from the McDonalds?

Yep! Only 2 240s at present (both non-runners) as my son is using my daily 240 driver for a bit. The other cars visible are my newly acquired 264 currently undergoing a bit of work and my new-to-me 740 which will be my new day-car as my son likes the 240 so much (cos it didn't cost him anything!). Then of course there's his dead Ford Transit......

Ah good stuff, i havent passed by for a while, but my brother lives down the road in Horley. A few years ago before i bought mine i was going to knock to see if any were for sale. I wondered if they belonged to a forum member, good to know.

Dont suppose you have a rear axle with a ratio of 3.31 or 3.54 lying about under a 240?

You need a GLT for the 3.5,or also a 260, and a super rare four speed 230KH for the 3.3
Most common diff is a 3.9. Happy hunting! Perhaps try the Volvo breakers at Wyboston (near the black cat roundabout)? they may help. |
