Default 940 diff oil drain and type

Hi

Think we are going for this new 940

I really want to do all the drivetrain oils though. No drain plug so what's the best way to get all the oil out of the diff?

And im guessing the gearbox is standard so has drain and fill?

Also do people run the original mineral or synthetics?

Thanks
Mick

On a high mileage M90 Redline is the best but if the changes are nice and smooth leave alone. The diff oil drains out through the lowest bolt on the diff cover. I did mine recently but cant remember the spec for the diff oil

The bottom middle bolt is the drain plug.

You will need to buy two litres of this

https://www.eurocarparts.com/search/...xoC9oMQAvD_BwE

It will take around 1.6 litres

Like your style. Ive used redline in a few boxes and it can be a transformation.

And the lowest is the drain hole excellent. Nice and easy

Im going to give opie a call and see if there is synthetic alternatives too. I want as much wear protection as possible on the drivetrain. I did the same on some previous cars and the result was amazing, beyond reduced mechanical braking. Even better mpg i found using nanodrive oil and redlne in boxes

Couple of helpful ideas for refilling :

Funnel in the fuel pump access panel, hose on the funnel to the diff fill plug. Makes life much easier!

My diff is a 1031 so book says 1.75L. I let it drain for quite a while and I wasn't far off that going back in
