Default V70 No High Beam Headlights

I've just acquired a September 2000 V70. The headlights with the switch on all three positions with engine running are stuck on dip. Flipping the indicator stalk up makes no difference.
Only if I flip the indicator stalk up and hold it there do I get high beam with the blue light illuminating. Can anyone point me in the right direction.

The cruise control and the dimmer wheel for the dash illumination don't work either but not so concerned about those as I am about the non existent high beam.

Smile flash or highbeam

Hi tom

You should find that in the middle 45deg pos, the sidelights only should be on, depending on an option that can be set only with vida this sets if you get dip beam on, or off when its in the O position, does sound like maybe so something wrong like the car thinks you have the switch set to OFF, in which case pulling the stalk toward you only flashes the main beam momentarily, ill have to check on mine how it should work, but sounds like the fuses etc are all good, just the 'logic' piece inbetween thats doing something odd.. maybe !

With headlight switch at middle position, 45 degrees the headlights come on as dipped with no sidelights only function.

The settings on the trip computer don't work either but not overly worried by that. Although it might help diagnosis and a way forward.

Smile switch ?

So does the headlamp twist switch make any difference at all in the 3 positions, ? curious about the trip computer also, ill check which module does that (& let you know what i find), could be CEM related, perhaps. do you know any history with the car?

All three switch positions the same. Since cruise and trip computer stalk are also affected, im wondering if there's something more sinister going on than just a faulty switch.
