Hi Mark
Not yet published in magazine but if last years Southern rally at Calne is anything to go by, a nominal "picnic-time" timing would be the norm. Something like 11am to 3pm ish I guess. Popham has a good atmosphere if you like club aircraft-flyers enthusiasm and the weather is half-decent. Have you got that 142 armrest sorted yet? Send me dimensions if still a problem, but it depends on its length (said the bishop to the actress!). Paul |

I must take the dimension. I will try and get this sorted this week.
Thanks Mark |

I'd previously spoken to Paul about these arm rests and from the parts book they are the same for 142.144/145, fronts of course. There are two types, one has a full pad to rest your elbow on with the front rising part that you can put your hand through and one with two hand pulls front and back with a sort of spacer (but part of the armrest) at the front of the horizontal piece. Should be just down to colour. 164 armrests are a different part numbers.

I have a '72 164 right next to my '71 145 and their front armrests are identical except the large knurled tightening ring thingie at the front end is black on the 145 and chrome-effect on the 164.
However my '68 model 164 has the early (and inferior) armrests as Derek describes but the locating holes in the door are the same on all models. That still doesn't answer Marks original question though.... My early ones only have the two fixing points, front and back, therefore if one exercises ones weight in the middle (as my cars previous elderly owner did) it cantilevers it down and pulls the captive mounting screw out of the foam body of the rest. Post about '70 cars have a third locator in that front padded bit you describe, Derek, a far stronger arrangement. So over to you again Mark.... having wider doors may well mean you have longer rests. Paul |

As I said, the part numbers are the same for 2 and 4 doors, but obviously the door trim panel is longer on the 142.
