Whistling sound.
I have a 2009 D5 V70 Mileage 45k. When towing my 2 berth Coachman Vision I get a whistling cum low warbling sound from the engine area. It starts after about 20 miles and is more regular when going uphill. Solo I don't get it unless I've gone about 60 miles and then only uphill. If I come off the throttle quickly I can induce the noise briefly at the backstop. There is no vapour trail or muck from the exhaust which I am told are indications of turbo damage. The car shows a hiccup in power occasionally but very vey briefly.. Any ideas please.

Turbo?
im new to the forum and to any mechanics but learning, anyway ... does the noise come in when you touch the accelerator? my turbo went and the only clue was the noise (There was a small hiccup every now and then from starting), just ended up getting louder and louder ... no vapor or anything, just noise.
As other might say as well, check your pipes for any slits etc, volvo dealer can check air circulation for you as well. Good luck with it. |

Thanks, yes on acceleration it whistles briefly, but goes away. When yours got noisier did it lose power as the problem progressed?
