Default URGENT-2006 D5 V70 Fuel filter housing split

Hi all,

Fuel filter housing threads have split on the "carrier" side bolted to the car.

I have a whole new unit on order. The car is parked on the other side of the city in the car park where it split, so I am intending on replacing in situ.

Do anyone have a guide on how to do this, especially removing the old filter housing bolted to the car?

Any tips from someone who has done the same job would be really appreciated.

Anyone have anything to add?

I recognise theres a post about this from a few years ago but id just like to know first hand from anyone who has done this and what to look out for.

Would really rather do this myself than recover the vehicle to a garage if it is feasible.

Many thanks.

This fortunately is one job I've yet to do on mine. The instructions in VIDA show you need to drop the front of the fuel tank a bit to access the bolts holding the filter housing, and you may or may not need a software update depending on the version currently fitted.

Thanks a lot! Does VIDA have any diagrams by chance?

This is it...

The only other stuff it mentions is to re-use the existing wiring/plug, do it when less than 3/4 of a tank of fuel, and drain the filter first. I guess that your filter is already at least partly drained!

Ah brilliant that is exactly what I needed!

Yes on both accounts, about £20 of diesel on the ground before I realised what the problem was. Thanks a lot, I'll let you know how I get on.

All sorted! Didn't end up getting time to do the job myself though. Part arrived on a Monday and had a two hour drive the next day-did not fancy doing that in the wife's Fiat 500! Would not have had time to do it myself for another 5 days.

Volvo specialist near me did it and charged an hour labour £72 all in for the work so happy with that.

Thanks again for your help.
