Underneath your intake manifold, part of your PCV system. Two big pipes, one from intake piping and one from the manifold go to a plastic wot sit down near, you guessed it, the crankcase. Always clogged with guff.

There is a perforated plastic insert inside, which always blocks up but can be painstakingly cleaned out with a small drill.
But received thinking now is that this insert is unnecessary, abandoned even by Volvo. I like to leave mine. It's a good guide to the general state of the crankcase ventilation system. As the weakest point, it's the first to begin to sludge up, and easy to unplug for a quick check when doing routine servicing. |
