Default 'red' interior trim??

for some reason certain parts of my trim in my 740 are broken, most notibly the door handle bits have all but 1 cracked and the loops of plastic where the seatbelts enter behind the trim have cracked too and fallen off... its a i guess youd call red interior and if anyone has one breaking id be interested in bits please... no idea if the black trim suffers this trouble or the last owner had hands of steel!

red interior is a pain in the butt! plastics are very fragile so have exactly same problem like u.

if u will buy anything spare to let me know, may be intrested anyway

or if u will be getting rid of ur car I'll buy whole interior from ya

I would love to see the photos of your car with its satanic red interior. Although, if you bought it from ebay I probably have one or two photos already.

If you have trouble finding the parts you might consider getting a quote from FRF Swansea for new parts. I would bet that some of the red interior parts are still available even if they are hellish expensive.

If you can get them, the plastic cups around the door release levers are about a tenner each, I think. There are two types of plastic cups for the front doors. Depending on whether you have electric or manual front windows you will either have a space for the switch on the plastic cup or a little 'coin holder'.

I can find the part numbers of any bits if you want me to.

It would be a great shame to change the trim from red...you don't say what year your car is (or am I being dim-rhetorical question) ?

I doubt if either blue or black is any less fragile or more durable...it will get more brittle over time...notwithstanding that my two 1986s and my 1988 have largely undamaged plastic trim - albeit 2x blue and black.

And if you made any changes you'll still have a red lower dash!

I'll happily keep my eyes peeled for any red trim (I am down nr Callington in August-so could bring it).

I have a few bits of red trim from my old 86 740. They are yours for the cost of postage. Although I live in southern Ireland and so they charge quite a bit. I liked the red interior as it brightened it up.
Post some pics up of what you need
