BMW do a very good Alcantara cleaning product ( spray on dab off) but there are plenty of other products on the market which will remove staining gently.
To remove bobbles I've found the best results come from a good quality electric shaver (Braun is my weapon of choice). Others swear by sandpaper/razors/etc....but go gently, going too aggressively will result in re-trimming costs. Good luck, it's a very rewarding job when done well. |

To clarify - you literally shave the area concerned?

Yes. As mad as it sounds. It really works.
Like debobbling a favorite woolen jumper. |

Might have to dig out an old shaver rather than use the day to day one

Alcantara appears to be a region of Brazil, so maybe it's appropriate

It's basically synthetic suade and I've read that a steam cleaner is the best method to remove staining. If you search for alcantara suppliers some have blogs on suitable treatments.

I need to clean my beige alcantara seats soon, they're bugging the heck out of me
![]() Re de-bobbling, I successfully used sandpaper on my last V70R. IIRC I used 800 grit, and went very very gently. With the V70R I had to make sure i didn't sand through the cross stitching, so the 850R should be a tad easier. Go over it gently, a panel at a time, and vacuum off the removed material, then assess if you need to go over it a bit more. Just be very gentle and avoid any creases (pull taut) and edges or else you could go right through the material. Its a stressful job, but the seats look great afterwards.
