Post Headlight washer 'stoppers'

Hi - i've been searching through the previous posts, but havn't been able to find an answer, but the little stoppers below the headlights on the 940 - can these be removed and swapped, as mine are looking a bit crusty?

I' dont want to get to brutal with them in case they disintegrate, but am I right in thinking that the metal tab inside is bolted to the bottom of the headlight? Do the plastic blocks slide off or are they one piece?

The very same/similar fitting on the 240 is removable once the lamps have been taken off:~ They clip into the underside of the headlamp.
I would think the originals would respond to a rust treatment & paint if bad.
Bob.

Sorry I've just realised I've posted this in the for sale section, would one of the admins be able to move this to the general section?

Think they were held on by 10mm self tappers, torx head on the later 940s.

Think you are right about that. I'd just delete them as they are a complete waste of time and make the front look messy

These little grey stoppers have two functions.:
1) to stop the wipers coming off the lamps and getting stuck
2) to support the weight of headlight protectors (which I have).

Cut them off or remove them at your peril!!!

Apologies for not making my post clearer, but I'm on about deleting the wipers completely.

Obviously it's your car and your decision, but it's a pity to remove the one thing that makes the Volvo's of this era unique...

I can see both sides here, as I've considered deleting them from my 850R. After much consideration I'm sticking with originality on my cars, but I can also see the merits in deleting them, especially if they're non functioning. IMHO the facelifted 960s look much cleaner without them for example.

But each to their own, its what makes each car unique and car shows so interesting

Your comment makes a very interesting point.
I hadn't even noticed that they weren't fitted to the facelifted 960 and subsequent v90!!!

A manual car after which I hanker!
