I've got a 2011 V60 1.6D, 125000miles on it, rust on both front wheel arches showing through the paint in a couple of locations.

I wasn't sure what to do with it, I assume to get it repaired will require quite a bit of work (and hence cost) to get all the rust out, and repainted. Wasn't sure it was worth it, (worth of car v cost of repair) and to just let them degrade.

Possibly keep an eye out for second hand ones, but if it's common problem, that could be a waste of time.

Open to advice.

Thank you very much everyone

I must say I am very impressed by the car, it's one of the best I have ever had and the analogue element appeals, as previously stated

I do a lot of motorway miles and rarely take the car above 2000 rpm, the engine still feels very strong despite the mileage

I periodically have a diesel treatment done as well as the intakes cleaned, I think the diesel treatment is pretty much snake oil but comes as part of the cleaning deal

I think I'll consider a shock absorber refresh as well as minor paintwork
