People where talking about the probable cause( something dropping in to cause a short). The plug was suggested as a possible fix.

I don't see how plugging the socket will get it to work.

It wont help to get it to work, but will prevent the reoccurrence of the fault IF the blown fuse was caused by something shorting in the socket.

Hi all,

Cheers for the responses, much appreciated.

I'll try replacing the fuse and report back. Might take me a few days with Christmas being upon us as I'm not sure the missus will appreciate me disappearing for a couple of hours to change a fuse

Thing is, if it's a blown fuse, why does the manual seem to infer the rear and front come off the same fuse? See attached screenshots.

I'll definitely be purchasing a blanking plug, very good idea!

you say it's under warranty - My front 12v stopped working under warranty, and my dealer was happy to fix it while I waited...

I could and will take it in if it's not the fuse, it's just easier to check/replace the fuse first rather than trek all the way down to a dealer if indeed it's just a fuse.

Then again, whilst under warranty, use and abuse it

Did the dealer tell you why yours had failed?

I just went to Halfords and it took the guy a couple of minutes. I would’ve done it myself but had a knackered shoulder at the time and couldn’t contort it into dodgy positions! Not sure about your second point but the boot 12v was still working in my S60 when this happened. The new fuse will fix your problem.

no, and I never asked. Went twice, and each time the coffee was still too hot to drink when they brought the car out. Problem is, that fuse box in the footwell is SO awkward to reach....
I just assumed my phone was trying to draw too much current. Been 2-3 years since I had the last problem. (shouldn't have said that, should I?)

Checked the fuse. Not the issue. Also mine doesn't have the boot 12V, only the 2 x central tunnel sockets.

Checked the fuse in the footwell. To be honest I didn't think it was too hard to get to but agree it's not the easiest I've ever worked on. Biggest issue was releasing the left hand side clip as it's so close to the other module. Needed a credit card to help push the clip far enough in to release.

So, not the fuse, unless it's fed of another fuse not listed in the manual . . .
