Yes, they have gone, together with the coat hook and the 12v accessory socket in the boot (I am sure this must have been standard at some time in the past - my 2009 V50 has it as standard). Rather bizarre examples of cost-cutting which you would not expect in a premium brand. Still, the dealers can make a little extra profit from fitting the accessory socket.

It will increase the saleability of your car. Main dealer told me (with some irritation) of all the kit on the car the one women rave about most is the sunglass holder.

I do think that a £30k car should have things like that as standard. It is the little touches that elevate a brand.
Agreed. It annoys me intensely that I am losing out on so much as I move from my Skoda Octavia to a Volvo that is approaching twice the price. I've always found my sunglasses holder exceedingly useful, and never once had a rattle. I don't even need to look or move significantly to pull them out. I'm also losing out on a dashboard top cubby hole, and another big compartment that has all of my parking change which is bottom right of the dash below the steering wheel, where Volvo seems to have a fuse box cover.
I eventually found this sunglasses box shown on one of the Volvo web site pages, because having borrowed a car to test drive, it had the owners sunglasses in that space behind the centre console, and they were just lolling around and getting scratched.

Bit of a thread resurrection, but if anyone is interested I sourced a sunglasses holder for a Ford Focus instead. It was cheaper than the volvo one, and require little modification for it to work.

I've attached pictures:

Would you mind sharing the details on your vehicle and the details of the sunglasses holder?

Sure; Its a MY17 Volvo V60 R Design.

The glasses holder is from a Focus ST, I presume the previous gen, as the current has one near the rear view mirror now. Also as I needed a black one, the ST must also have a black headlining.

The mounting holes are in exactly the right place, but they use smaller bolts on the ford. I had to enlarge the mounting holes in the glasses holder slightly, and trim a little plastic prong off each side. it also required using new bolts as the ones from the Volvo grab handle had washers that couldn't be removed, which made them too large to use.

It sounds like a faff, but it took a few moments to prepare it and I can return it back to how it was anytime.

It cost about £15

Thanks for sharing. Worth a go, since the cost is low.

My Volvo has now gone back to the lease company after 5.5 years with me. It’s been a great car!

I’ve retained the sunglasses holder if anyone is interested, It’s a direct swap for the interior grab handle, ideally for a car with a black headlining.

It will fit an xc60 too, and possibly other models. If anyone is interested, then drop me a message.
