Actual oil capacity for T4 (b4194T)?
Recently serviced my 1999 S40 T4 as per the owners manual I filled the car with 4.3L of oil. I checked the dipstick and I saw the oil was only 1/4 of the way up the dipstick. Checked the oil pan and saw that I definitely drained more than the 4.3L of oil. So I filled the car with the remaining oil in the can (5L) checked the dipstick and it was around halfway up.
Asked my local mechanic what the actual capacity of the engine was and he told me it was 5.5L, so I added an extra 500ml. What's odd to me is that when I check the dipstick it gives different reading depending on which way I put it in. If I put it in so the bent end faces towards the engine I get a reading of a bit more than 3/4 full. I put it in so the bent part face away from the engine towards the front bumper I get a reading of full. Long story short don't know what the actual capacity of the engine is and why the dipstick giver different readings. |

The capacity is 5.4litres. No idea about your bent and twisted dipstick, mine is straight and flat.
