Default My new ex-mobility S40

After waiting 10 days for the cheque to clear finally brought it home. It's an ex-mobility car with 30,000 on the clock and I got it at a fleet auction in Kinross.

There were some nice surprises like crushed up cig packets, rolled crushed fish and chip papers in the door compartments, two half full/empty chewing gum packets under the seats and dried in mushy peas (hopefully) down the back of the rear seats. The handbook has been chewed in the corner by an ugly mutt and it stinks of cigarette smoke.

I spent all afternoon giving it a good valet and its looking swwweeeet!

However my question is, why don't some of these dirty b*ggers look after their cars? The auction was full off unloved, dented, negelected newish cars. Disabled or not, they get them for virtually nowt, they can pay professionally for someone to clean them every now and then. Bit of a racket if you ask me.

It's cause they get them for free for having a limp!

Mobility scheme is an absolute sham IMHO - Some deserve them but most don't!

Still at least you got a bargain Some TLC and it'll be lovely again.

Got any photos ?

As above. If your into cars, you take care of them. If your not, you don't. You ought to see the state of the company vehicles where I work. From MD's Merc down, might get a clean when (if) they go for a service and that's about it. Sulphuric acid would struggle to remove the brake dust off the alloys... Like you say T5 Monkey, give folk them for free and they're even less inclined to look after them.

It's a sad case of, "I've not paid for it I dont care about it"

I've never had to have a car valeted in my ownership and i get my fair share of use out of them! The key is keep ontop of it and they stay clean! Even if it's just the inside! I've brought a few scrufbags that have needed a good going over at first. My Sierra was that bad i just brought a new interior

When I used to have a company car, one of the "cast offs" I had for a little while had the roof lining literally stained a yellowy colour from the smoke! and it reeked!!!!

Had it for a few weeks and had to drive around everywhere with the windows open as it was too dreadful to drive with them shut. Another car I had that was written off by the insurerers who flatly refused to sell it back to me went for auction with a milk spill in it. You can NEVER remove fully the smell of milk spilt in a car. Robbing beggars, thought I would have them.

I think people with severe disabilities have the car as a necessity to make their difficult lives a little less...erm...difficult, I don't think they could care less if its dirty or has some chippy papers in it. There are disabled VOC members and maybe even VOC members on motobility so a little bit more decorum would be appreciated by those members I imagine.

Well said Volvon. Your respect for people less fortunate is appreciated by all respectable abled and less abled people in here. Most peoples perception is indeed flawed and wrong. Yours is refreshingly considerate and valid. The majority of forward thinking and decent people will appreciate your comments. Thank you

Many people may be less fortunate than another. Do not tar less abled people with “ dirt b*ggers” tab. You’ve got a good car. The previous owner did not obtain said vehicle for nowt or virtually nowt as you suggest. You are mis-informed. How did you know it was the less abled person filling with cr8p and rubbish - maybe it was the dealer or the driver to auction or the car was used as a loaner by the dealer? - All people can be mucky.

940wentworth. Your comments are worth no comment really. Despicable.. Yes you know they are despicable.Such comment indicates "the quality of your intelligence and warrant no further comment" I truly hope you remain well and abled and need not seek assistance in future. It would be unfortunate for you should a stronger person than you set forth comments about your medical condition when you are vulnerable

T5 Monkey. With your knowledge, qualification profession and previous position - YOU should know better than to make flippant comment regards such. Yes YOU know what I mean. Would YOU find it useful to be better informed? Yes. Sure YOU would. Why would YOU be better informed? How can YOU be better informed? What if YOU were better informed? Yes YOU know where I am coming from.
Disappointed in you T5 Monkey. Do you bring the profession into disrepute?

They are not free. Most people respect a vehicle. A small minority may not. Do not tar all with the same brush. Tell you what as they say in this forum “mate” I will lop your arms off and give you a “free” car. See how you feel then. However with a free car some people may treat such without respect. To refresh you they are not free.

They are paid for by the less abled person, although, yes, some may not treat the vehicle with the respect it deserves. Most do though.

Shocking comments from shocking people?

Yes, I expect to see and view comments from people abovementioned in retaliation. That’s life.

Regards

OK Volvorocks, you're going to get both barrels from me.

My comments were NOT about mobility cars for the disabled. It WAS about folk that get company car's for free and treat them like crap i.e. cars for free. Read my post. Realise the difference and don't fire off at me for no reason.
