I bought one of those repair kits from Skandix a while back with the intention of using it as a starting point to specify some cheaper, generic parts to repair a broken air box I've got in my garage. When I find it again ...

You can buy clips off Ebay that will fix it fine. M4 bolt I think fits them

I've done a bit of searching around and found these on eBay:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175483916422

And the same on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/sourcing-ma.../dp/B07XYW55SQ

I don't know if the dimensions are right, but comparing them to the ones in the photos on the Skandix repair kit they look good to me.

Brookhouse have these which may well have been the original style clips.

Bob
I think they will only work if the lower part of the box isn't broken where the clips attach

I would certainly agree that the ones on ebay or Amazon would be better as they can be screwed on to the lower part of the box with stainless self tappers available from Screwfix(6x 1/2 inch)

How important is this, though. My lid isn't loose as the connection to the MAF holds it in place. However, it isn't as Volvo intended.....

I'd be more inclined to drill the box and use bolts and washers

Well as long as tiny particles and grit doesn't get into the top part then that's all that matters.

I trim the top of the air filter gasket so not as much pressure exerted on the original clips. Whenever I've changed it there hasn't been any dirt inside the lid on the clean side.

There's nothing inherently bad about a ratchet strap.🙂 They used to use belts to keep bonnets secure in the olden days.🧐

It was meeeee, I'm artificially inflating the value of saloons one by one until they're unobtainable for the common folk
