Default loud squeal from front ; what is it

I have a p reg old 2.0 litre s40 which does not get used much but has developed a loud intermitent sqeal from somewhere at the front. It only makes the noise when the car is moving so not the engine itself.

I notice it at slow sleeps, once it starts it goes on for several minutes. I don't think it is brake related as it continues when the brakes are dabbed. However it does change tone if I wiggle the steering wheel left or right. Any ideas to solve this ?

I may be off on the totally wrong start, but I've had squeals from my cars and they are either a problem with one of the belts under the bonnet (The belts have become loose and need tightening up)

Although if its when you turn the wheel, hmm, total guess at somthing wrong with the power steering?

Hi My guess is it's the alternator drive belt (what we used to call the fan belt) it will also drive the power steering pump so when you turn the wheel the extra effort from the pump makes the belt slip more.
