Camshaft identification please
Is anyone able to identify this camshaft please?
It's in my 1989 245 GLT with a B230E There's supposed to be a single letter stamped on the shaft, which denotes the grind. I have numbers 1000132 which I believe is just the code for the blank. And at the back three letters LYD followed by a very indistinct mark. Photo attached |

Thanks guys....
the photo was taken at the end furthest from the pulley where it says LYD hence the query. I was expecting just the one letter though. The indistinct mark just to the right of LYD might be what I'm looking for, but it's illegible. Was hoping someone may have the same in their motor. It will probably be an A, V or M, but it doesn't seem to drive like it has a V Last edited by speedyG50; Sep 10th, 2016 at 22:21. |

Thanks for clarifying that, I had convinced myself the mark looked like an M
Now all I have to do is get the blighter out, which is not what I wanted. |

Sorry if I sounded like an @rse, I wrote it in a rush and wanted to emphasise the wording...
You might not have to remove the cam, there's an end cap on the rear of the head which you could pop out and peer in if you're a contortionist! (or use a mirror) |

Just seen your reply.
Thanks for the further info, waiting for the weather to improve before I give it a go. Once identified, will be up-rating the cam. |

You might try measuring the cams on the widest and narrowest position (both for in- en outletvalves) The diff in diameter is the so called lift. In the camshaft overview you will find the matching Camshaft. But I guess best chances on a V though I've seen A also in there or was that only the older B21/23E models? Hmm
