Knocking Sound
I've recently started noticing a kind of click sound, when I release the accelerator. It seems to happen not when the clutch is depressed, but always when in traffic and depresssing or releasing the accelerator pedal and I get this metallic click. I'm sure it has only just started, but to avoid me looking a like a donut at the dealers, is it a normal thing?

How many miles has your car done ?
When you press and release the throttle, the engine will rock on its mounts. The top mount moves anyway and it may be this you're hearing. |

It's only done 27500 mls...it seems more like a metallic click, only the one and it happens every time I touch the accelerator pedal?!

Common problem with the nuts coming loose on the drive shafts, can be fixed by appying threadlock and tightenning or by fitting the nylock nuts of a XV90 evidently.
Loads of threads on here about it, don't think it's too much to worry about if not fixed immediately. |

With luck, my Volvo dealer is 5 minutes down the road from my house. I take my hat off to you mate, you were right! Apparently, the mechanic said that Volvo changed the design of the drive shaft bolts and they've never been the same since! I mentioned the magical word 'warranty' and there were smiles all round!
