whats f3p ? if you put a 2.0 head on a 1.7 the compression ratio will be too low for efficiency unlessss you turbocharge it ..

The B18 (1.7ltr) engines have a completely different head as the B20F. Won't fit as the B18 has the combustion chamber in the piston (Partagee type). The B20F has the combustion chamber partially in the piston and partially in the head (Heron type). The n/a engines are not easy to tune. You can gain a couple of hp by removing the cat, put a turbo exhaust under it, flow the manifold and a K&N filter to complete. You can gain around 10-15hp this way. Best and cheapest bet is to drop a B18FT(urbo) lump in and richmod (or chip ecu)it. Will deliver around 170hp 0-60 around 7sec.
edit; read your reply after my answer. Just chip the ecu that will give you the HP you want. The Turbo engines where originally tuned by Porsche to 170hp. Volvo detuned them to 120hp. So they can handle the 170hp with ease.

im currently running richmod ecu running around 15 psi decat all exhaust wrapped airfilter and its in my clio so very light ran a 15.026 at santa pod a couple of weeks ago but thats with stock clio exhaust im now fitting a straight through cat back system but im also building another engine ive just collected and im putting a t25 rollerbearings on bigger injectors turbo downpipe and another ecu chip want to run around 24 psi over 200 bhp hopefully and was wondering if bigger exhaust valves would help?

I'm afraid the driveshafts are the weakest part. They can't really handle more then 200hp. Regarding the bigger exh.valves, the turbo exhaust valve stems are hollow and filled with sodium to cool them, quite expensive. Probably you have to have them custom made. I think a hotter cam will be a better and less expensive solution imho. Or look for a R5 turbo head, maybe that will fit.
Tip; take a look at the tuning and tweaking part of the 480europe forum. http://volvo480.dragons.org.uk/forum/viewforum.php?f=3

Driveshafts shouldnt be under a lot more strain as the wheels loose traction easily after a certain torque , kind of self limiting really .. I know of probably 6 or 7 400 turbos running 155 bhp with no trouble at all with the transmission ( the TURBO transmission which has a stronger transaxle and driveshafts anyway )

yeah would like to change the cam and pulley but have never been able to find any suitable ?
im also running clio 1.8 16v driveahfts which are actually wider in diameter to the turbo ones so in therory they should be stronger |
