Have a look at that for an idea. Check out my website for some intake madness. Chris

Hi.
Even if you completely remove the intake from the turbo, it will only be able to pass 'so much' air through itself anyway. The standard airbox is not the restriction, the turbo is, just as the turbo itself is the main restriction on the exhaust. This is not the case with NA cars, that actually respond well to better intakes to a point. If you want to get more air through one of those then ........ put a supercharger or turbocharger on it........ Cheers, Dan. |

For my 2p worth. I kept with the std box and added a new 3" pipe feed from the brake duct to the original air inlet on the box. See my engine section on my webpage. I think it does help the top end to keep the feed 'on tap', or it certainly feels that way.
Also, I think this also helped keep bhp climbing over 6400 rpm when the dyno guy bottled it, or so it would seem as per dyno chart. The chap there was quite impressed as the huge cold blowers they had going blew directly into the air duct, which was nice! Last edited by Ren; Jul 25th, 2006 at 20:21. |

I totally agree with Ren; I think you'll find that there's lots of other things which are going to become an issue (i.e. the weakest link) long before the airbox does. I've personally seen a power run where an airbox was completely removed and the net gain was 1whp!

Not ever been in a car with nitrous, but it does act as a cooling element to the inlet charge. The main problem with nitrous as I understand it, is that it can create such a large explosion in the cylinders, that if not properly controlled/short enough in duration, you can literally rip your engine apart! Sure getting another feed to the airbox cannot hurt as long as it is from somewhere that has 'cool' air flowing to it. I would avoid anything below the headlight level if you can avoid it, as you don't want water getting in and hydrolocking your engine. Cheers, Dan. |

this is a concern because the only place i can see to put it is against the grill on the lower front dam similar to the postioining ren previously used .. http://geocities.com/rennerd@btinter...ery_engine.htm ..(copywrite ren.. thanks) is there anywhere else you can suggest i can place the inlet to obtain as cool and as dry a air intake as possable thanks for your continued help cheers jod
