Talking Police Dipsticks

Well it had to be done. There are Youtube vids of dudes struggling to do this from the top. If you take off the undertray and work from under the car the job is a piece of p155. I also fitted mudflaps and the missing charge air hose bracket all in an hour and a halfish.

VO30637865 - seal 3.24
VO00982776 - screw 1.44

Default recommendation

A little piece of advice before buying the parts - Make sure you have a threded hole to fasten the dip stick. On my early MY2016 with D5244T21 ( manufactured 2015-09) there was a hole but some time during my2016 this hole was not drilled any longer.
As mentioned the easy way is to work from beneath.

Interesting that's about when mine mine would have been assembled too (late 2015 reg) - assuming yours is not just a one-off maybe Volvo eventually lost all the Police supply contracts so tried to shave .00000000000000001p off their production line unit cost.

It´s probably to do with costs savings... - Even the little plastic mechanics dip stick was removed later. Don´t know exactly when the threaded hole was abandoned but the ridge/stud where it was supposed to be is evident on all 5 cyliner blocks but no drilling.

It´s an easy job but to do but remove the plastic cowling on top of engine to make it easier to insert the dipstick tube - may need a little tapping top be properly seated - since the oil trap is place a little bit in the way. Then fiddle with the screw from beneath (rinse the threaded hole to remove excess dirt ) and you will need a 10mm socket for the screw.

Good luck.
