It depends what you want to do with the motor car. I think 240s look best with Volvo wheels, these are the Virgo wheels (would have come from a GLT), I use for the RB's summer tyres:

... the motor car is a 1980 244, so not all that different to yours. Here are the wheels close up:

These are quite sought after now, someone was looking for a set recently and I think paid about £300/set, which sounds about right.

A cheaper option is another Volvo wheel (from a 940) that I use for the RB's winter tyres:

These are Pholus - here is a close up:

I bought them in need of refurbishment for £30/set, and spent about £30 (and a couple of days work) fixing them myself. They are in less demand than the Virgo style, hence the cheaper price, but I think look pretty good on the 244.

PS. These are a larger version of the Virgo wheels:

If you had decided you wanted some bling wheels so you could have low aspect ratio tyres I would have no idea what you should buy. I think they would ruin your 1978 motor car though.

I quite like the look of the Virgos with a black centre.

ATS alloys might be a bit old school.

Hi David245
..and welcome to the forum.
It's been a few years since I was looking, but I think your biggest problem would be finding aftermarket wheels with the right pcd and offset. Modern wheels are mainly for front wheel drive vehicles.
You could use spacers/adapters to overcome this, but it only adds to the cost and is not always a satisfactory solution.
There are a wide variety of volvo wheels available that fit and are relatively cheap which I suppose is why most people (including myself) use them.
Be sure to post up what you decide
Tim

I think Virgos are over rated, and priced, but each to there own. I have a set of 15" Draco in the shed which might get fitted to my '93 240, but that all depends on whether it stays or goes, which depends on how much I like the V70R...

I agree, on the older cars. I love steel wheels painted white or cream, or if a dark coloured car, then a pale version of the body colour.
The flat chrome hub caps with a medalion in the centre, and to round them off, the chrome rim embelishers.

On a later car I love the Scorpius wheels, as fitted to the Torslanda but available at the time as an option on other models.

Cheers for the response guys, Yh they look like wolf race wheels very rare to get now, that’s why the closest you can get to them are the Mag slot wheels
