Thinking about Clan's comments made me think that Volvo could introduce an Eco cruise control version that kept the car at the optimum speed for fuel economy as well as having the standard cruise control. Say just press the cruise control button twice to implement.

I followed Clan's advice on a 200 mile round trip on Monday down the down the A34 and A303. I tried to keep a steady pace of around 75mph where possible. No cruise control this time, just easing off uphill and gentle acceleration downhill increased the consumption by about 8% to around 33.5mpg Thanks for the advice!
