V40 T4 economy
Firstly I know she's a petrol, and has a turbo... But surely I can expect better than 160 miles to just over half a tank right?!
Bearing in mind my driving has been relaxed with only the occasional heavy foot. I have a couple of issues with the car; manifold and exhaust gas leak. Would this cause bad economy, and if not what else do I need to look at mechanically? My car doesn't have the info centre option, so I cannot view MPG sadly, this something that can be installed?? |

Gas mileage V40 S40 96-04
I have an S40 that gets consistently 300 miles on a tank. This is a small tank as far as that goes. I think the smallest I have had ever was my 69 beetle. This is the second smallest, so seems like I get bad gas mileage but not so. My wife's V70 gets 27-35 MPG and its a 99. I usually get 30 -38 in my S40 using premium fuel which is only 93 octane here in the USA. I always look for the highest octane rating for my car and it differs from state to state and yes I have driven it across country a few times, 6-7 day drive. 3000 mile trips. And it has passed the 40MPG several occasions on the flats. SO yes I would say 160 miles on half a tank is good and nothing to worry about considering the size of the tank.

I'm near enough the same as Antz
Get around 310 miles per tank. It's sat at 29.1mpg at the moment. I don't hang about in mine either |

Same here,on v power I get about 290 miles without the red light coming on,I don't like it to go too low, that's mixed driving with some enjoyment in exploring the thrill of full boost!

Best I ever got from the on board MPG calculator was 41.1mpg on a 300 mile round trip, driving off boost all the way there and back using cruise control as much as possible.
Dullest trip ever.... |
