ecotekplc performance device?
Dear All,
Does anyone have any knowledge of a device made by ecotek plc which claims to increase performance and enhance fuel economy. Its called a CB-26P, costs £50ish and you can see it at www.ecotekplc.com It seems to work by disturbing airflow near the inlet manifold to better suspend fuel particles or something. Would be interested to know if anyone's got one fitted to a Volvo, and if its any good. I have a 97 440 1.8i. Cheers, Ben. |

RE: ecotekplc performance device?
Hi Ben,
As I have commented before when this topic has come up, I tried an ecotek on my 940 2.3 (non-turbo) automatic. It was only on for two or three months before I took it off - I thought alternating with/without would show up whether it worked but I haven't put it back yet. I keep proper petrol records and noticed no difference in consumption. It may have been an illusion but the car felt a little livelier, but not much. Having said this I have read a lot of favourable comments about the ecotek device, and still think that there could be something to it. On the fuel comsumption point, the auto gearbox seems to make the car resistant to any economy measures... I fitted a Kenlowe electric cooling fan and removed the one on the water pump, hoping to achieve the makers' fuel saving claims. No noticeable difference in my figures, but the engine is much quieter (no longer the traditional old Volvo whooshing of loads of air). Please let us know if you try the ecotek - and if I get round to refitting mine I'll report again. All the Best, Ian |

RE: ecotekplc performance device?
As the device works by changing the air/fuel ratio this also changes the exhaust gases. It can also cause the engine to pink. In both cases the ''brainy '' ecu adjusts everything back to normal again. Friend bought one and sent it back for a refund. Have seen them on Ebay for about £3.50 which tells you a lot. Cheers Nigel
