2017 V40 CC Front Coil Spring

I have a 2017 V40 'Cross Country' T3 and i realised yesterday that the front drivers side suspension spring has snapped.

I tried to find a replacement part from the usual places but i'm very confused as to which parts are actually compatible:

Amtex AEX0031 - 'Not For Equipment Variant Cross Country'
Lesjofors ROC4095860 - 'Not For Equipment Variant Cross Country'

This seems to be the same for the local motor shops, none have a variant that is stated as for the CC.

KYB RA1103 - V40 CC T3 until VIN 133113
Kilen 26045 - V40 CC T3 until VIN 133113

The last 6 of my VIN is 14xxxx so these arent suitable either!
It doesnt look like anyone is making replacement springs for VIN over 133113, or did i miss something?

I've done a few coil replacements before so i plan to DIY this repair.
I did call Volvo dealer who wanted >£200 per side just for the part!

Unfortunately my sticker on the door pillar doesnt seem to have the variant codes listed on it ...

Original coils and shocks are made by Sachs and boge, but cross country is specific and the coils aren't listed in their catalogue. Only way would be contact frf volvo and ask for price, probably around 165 each

Volvo wanted over £200 per spring and wouldn’t tell me the part number to find an equivalent with.
I did manage to find my variant code and therefore found the Volvo part number and an equivalent spring from Kilen.
I got a pair just in case they are subtly different and will replace both fronts and report back.

Interestingly my variant code points to a non-cc model of spring. I guess they changed production after the chassis 133113

So it turned out the spring was broken in 2 places:



The break at the top shows some fresh metal with a corrosion patch, probably the defect giving rise to the weakness needed to break:





The lower break was very rusty, seemes it's been that way for some time now:

So this morning I noticed a rubbing sound from the front wheels in my 2017 Volvo V40 CC T5. After a quick check I could see nothing untoward. I drove to work listening to the sound which was in synch with the speed. Thinking it might be brake related I pressed the brake pedal a few times but the sounds did not dissipate. Using the roundabouts to turn the steering did not change the sound.

It was only when I got to work that I got the car jacked up and with the help of the colleague found the front drivers side spring had snapped , but in two different places. The first looked a lot older as there was surface rust on the fracture, but the new one was also digging into the tyre cutting a new groove into it, which was the rubbing sound!

Spoke to garage and they will replace the broken one, but wondering should they not replace both? Will also need a new front tyre as well

It makes sense to replace both, but all the same, its more costly to do so. Remember, you'll need an alignment afterwards.

I recently had a broken front coil spring on my 2019MY V40 replaced by Volvo dealer who said it wasn't necessary to replace both springs. They also carried out a wheel alignment.

Don’t know what it is with V40s but they seem to be going through springs like rattle, or maybe just our poor roads. Even genuine springs don’t seem to be lasting any better than aftermarket.
