Xc 90 front wheels dragging
Hi Everyone,
Apologies if this thread already exists cant seem to findanything relevant, if any one can help on a recently purchased 2010 83k xc90 it would be much appreciated . The issue is at maneuvering speed in right or left lock the front wheels seem to drag accompanied with an awful noise. On the straight there is moderate vibration . Decided to jack up the front wheels to see if there was anything obvious both wheels free from noise on both locks and one question that the experts among u will be able to tell me is with only the front wheels jacked up should I be able to spin the wheels ? Also wondering if its a steering alignment issue?? Thanks in advance for any help |

Make sure the car is safely supported with the handbrake on, in neutral, and ensure the rear wheels are secured so the car can’t roll. Ensure you’re jacking on a level surface. It sounds like you have a sticking brake caliper or ABS issue.

Have you got aftermarket wheels fitted? Sounds like the tyre rubbing on the wheel arch liner at full lock. Are there any rub marks on the wheel arch liner?

Hi Just a quick update and thank you for the replies.
It turns out that the dragging noise and wheel's bouncing is coming from the back wheel's. Was advised to service the Haldex coupling. There's probably a thread on here somewhere but it's a fairly straightforward job, reverse up on small ramps remove the hadex pump to let the transmission fluid drain out, refit pump replace filter and transmission fluid fill to filler plug. Took for a test drive and problem solved 83k on the clock filter was a mess and fluid was almost black.Great video on YouTube . I'll probably tackle the transmission box fluid and the front diff next. |
