Xc60 rdesign vs V40 (due to first child being born)
Hi all
Basically i currently own an rdesign v40 D3 2014, i was contacted by the dealer offering me a deal on a new Xc60 D4 rdesign which i am going to look at on saturday. I have no experience with the bigger style of car and was wondering what everyone thought of them. I have also been qouted a figure for monthly payments of £486 a month for 48months (inc 3 years free servicing) could anyone who has bought one recently comment of if this is a good deal or not i have no idea, i was looking at paying around the £450 mark but not sure if that is achiveable. Regards Paul |

According to Volvo, there's a deal for a new D4 XC60 R Design, with monthly payments of £329 - see here http://www.volvocars.com/uk/cars/new...sonal#xc60-pcp
It does need a £7k deposit which I would have thought your V40 would cover, unless it's also on PCP/finance and doesn't have the equity. But that deal on the Volvo website is based on an on-the-road price of £32k, which for that base level of car is way too high. I went on Drivethedeal the other day and spec'd up an XC60 D4 R Design Lux Nav Geartronic with Driver Support Pack, VOC, spare wheel, winter illumination pack, panoramic roof, extra parking sensors, premium paint and premium sound. That came in, post discount, at just a fraction over £35k, so I'd imagine there's some hard discussions to be had with your dealer to get that price s/he's quoted you down. |

Hi ive just done exactly the same thing i have the v40 r design but have just moved upto 3 kids so ordered a xc60 r design which is 6 and a half weeks away
i found the v40 to be big enough for 2 but too small for 3 because of the small plastic space wasters at each end of the rear seat £489 while sounds expensive you have to think it is a near on 40k car if you add a few extras in like i have we cant wait not only for the extra room but the xc60 just felt a little more luxurious even though spec wise its similar to my v40 r design |

I have two young kids.
It is an awesome car. That is all I have to say on the subject - can't comment on the finance as I bought mine with a bank loan. J

To give you an indication of the level of discount across the range, I just plugged the exact model from that offer I linked to into drivethedeal. List price (as quoted in the finance offer) £32,935. Discounted price, £25,728.13. Go have a strong word with your dealer!

Thanks for the replies, the v40 itself is on PCP which still has just over two years to run so they said they would wipe out the negative equity which is approx £5000.
Deposit wise I said I would put £2000 in, the deals on the Volvo website for £329 are also low milage deals but I need more approx 10,000miles per year. I currently pay £393 a month for the v40. |

How big is the baby?
I'm always mystified when people want a bigger car when they become parents? A V40 is a good family hatchback. I could understand if you had a 911. Congrats on your new arrival. |

The car itself is fine it's more so on the boot space to lack of it, with pram and seat unit in the boot there is little to no space for anything else. We have family we like to visit down south and need all the space we can get.
I had thought about removing the flexi load floor for more space but don't wanna do without the temps spare wheel. |

Not so much how big is the baby but how big is your pram?
The old V70 used to accept a bugaboo complete stacked neatly in the corner of one side of the boot. My V60 has to have the bugaboo across the width of the boot, and there isnt much room for anything else! My own fault for not testing this; I realise we could get a smaller pram. However the Mrs is rather attached to this one.
