Default J reg 940 for sale

Hello

I'm advertising a 940 here on behalf of a friend. He has taken the car in part exchange. Any questions or viewings are most welcome.

The car has no MOT (just expired but he may sell car with 12 month MOT) and no service history (but it is being looked for!).

940 saloon, auto, 110k B200F

Interior is in very good condition and hardly used. An ideal 940 to preserve really. If I had the space I'd like it myself!

As per the pictures, the water pump is leaking (probably the gasket). Can be sorted by the time of sale.

Given the interior's condition it would a shame for such a car to be scrapped. That will be the case if a buyer isn't found.

Car also needs a new voltage regulator for the alternator and my friend is sourcing one of these at the moment (or a replacement alternator).

Any questions and viewings most welcome

Price £650

I would suggest that if he wants this price for a base model saloon all the above including the MOT would have to be sorted. £650 is too much as is - £450 would be nearer market value.

No harm, but £650 for a car that if not sold will be scrapped, you can't be serious......

With no mot, and a base model, 2.0 auto saloon, you'd be doing well to get scrap value for it sadly.

Sad but true the current value is low,But what a throw away society we live in!
We all know how these cars can go on and on,Very sad to see such a straight car go for breaking,But theres a lot of it going on.In a few years time we will all look back and wonder why there aren't so many around anymore.
Regards Brian.

Hi there

True, indeed it is a shame for such a car to be scrapped. Personally, the sadest part is the fact the interior condition is superb. With some polishing and cleaning etc this would be an excellent example of a 940 to preserve based on the great seats and interior trim.

Any questions are most welcome as are viewings. Make an offer and I'll liaise with the seller for you. The car is outside which hinders complete stripping for spares but potentially it could be dismantled if someone wants ie full interior.

Open to discussion!

I would take it myself as its in lovely condition but unfortunately I dont have the space and already have a 940 Turbo.

regards

Hello

Thanks for all the replies. Your comments are taken onboard.

In it's current condition, any offers? Anyone like to come see it?

If the water pump, alternator are sorted and 12 months MOT, any offers for the car? (owner will sort).

The current owner has no space for it so I'd rather see the car go for preservation or use rather than scrap hence the advert here.

The best part of it is the interior. Seriously good! body also has no dents or scratches which is unusual.

Hi

I agree with the others that the price is way too optimistic in its current condition and spec. As you say I would sort all of its faults and have a new MOT. The leak would put me off.
I bought a 1989 240 GLT estate about 3 weeks ago in very good condition for 350 pounds in Birmingham. Good luck with the sale James.

Hi

Would anyone like to make an offer for the car in its current condition?

If the problems were sorted, and an MoT put on it I'd be interested at Scooter's valuation of £450 - £500, but given my experience with my 760 and its underside the MoT is essential! With it being a solid colour I imagine the paint would mop to a shine quite well. I love big Volvos, but due to health issues I can only take on a mechanically and bodily sound car.
