Not directly relevant, but my MY2012 V60 2.0 D3 manual has averaged 45.5mpg from new (measured brim-to-brim). Now has 5,500 miles up. Best tankful was 49mpg, worst 41mpg. About 35% motorway trips, 65% urban commuting and dad's taxi journeys typically less than 5 miles. This is on standard 215 / 55 tyres.

Thanks for your comments. Finishing current fuel test but tendency maps again in same experienced fuel usage curve.

Will definitively go to garage for a waranty check. (BTW, I also feel second gear engine flare-up to be slow in reaction...)

Will keep you posted. Thanks !!

Nope.

Just the D2, D3 and D5 in the bigger models.

That's what I thought. Clan, I could get 67mpg over 52 miles in my V70 D3, and it weighs nearly a quarter of a tonne more than a V50.

Ive had a S40 D3 loan car for 3 days and was disappointed in the fuel consumption i got (plenty of oomph though) on like for like journeys i get 31mpg average on my V70 D5 and 36mpg average on the S40 (both auto)

I was expecting a much bigger difference taking into account the weight of the cars etc.
