Hi - I'm after an additional Key fob for my Volvo S80 2.4 petrol on an 02 plate. Please can you let me know how much this would be? I have 2 keys just one remote fob.

Thanks to all the very useful information in this thread, I would like (as in the previous post) to buy a second remote control for my S80 (2001, 2.4, manual, petrol).

I bought one for the same from my local dealer two years ago and it cost £160 programmed to car.

Hi Rufe,
just read your post about re-programming fobs bought off ebay and you said post 1999. My old s40 is 97-98 model. The fob has suddenly stopped working, I am thinking it's anew battery but I rushed out to B&Q to get a 3v batt and it still did not work..am off to the car shop to see if I can get a better more suitable battary? is it possible my fob is u/s and not just a battery prob?

I also wondered can i buy another fob off ebay identical to mine

and reporogramme this one as it's pre 99?? (and how?)
I tried opening the car with just the key but this sets the alarm off (I hate that alarm!)..Cheers for any help Simon mac.

I am a new Volvo owner and I am realising that greatness come at great cost.

Recently I purchased a 2003 S80SE 2.4, although the car is great there are a few issues which I am working though one at a time.

1. The alarm has no sound, I have read the batteries corrode so I will need to buy a replacement at some point.
2. The Petrol cap no longer locks
3. A wee bit of wear and tear on the arm rest and hand break
4. I have a double din stereo I want to install
5. And I believe you can possibly arrange a slight discount for a replacement Key?

My car only came with one and I really want a spare set for obvious reasons. As per your post, lots of people online advise Ebay as a cheap alternative, I am not to keen to go any where but Volvo for the part TBH.

Any advice or help would be awesome.
