Default Rear parking sensor is not working

Hi Guys,

My rear parking sensors are stopped working after DMF and Clutch repair. The transmission liquid was also changed by the workshop. Any ideas?
There is no message on the dashboard.
Car specs: Volvo S40 D2, 2010, with 127098 kms in it.

Many thanks!

Hiya,

Do your reverse lights also come on?

Could be the reverse switch hasn't been plugged in, so when the car is put into reverse, it doesn't know it is, so it doesn't turn the sensors on.

Should be a little 2 pin connection at the front of the gearbox on a D2.

Hope this helps

Hi !

Have you ever noticed them to stop working before your repair ? Maybe it is just a coincidence.

Some time ago, my parking aid started to work less and less until it never worked.
Turned out I simply had a faulty sensor.
Replaced it and it worked again.

If this is your issue, you can test your sensors by listening ear against it, while reverse is engaged. You can also use a video recorder to amplify the sound. If you hear a buzzing sound, the sensor works. If you don't hear anything, it doesn't work.

Now, if none of the 4 sensors make sound, then your problem might well be linked to your repair and maybe an unplugged connection as Adam1961 said, or something else. It would be very unlikely to have all of the sensors to break down at the same time.
