2011 D5 (200) Particulate Trap Pressure Sensor
Hi all I have been experiencing what appears to be an intermittent recurring fault and/or message. Every now and then I get the 'Engine System Service Required' Mainly on initial start up and then it will generally go out, sometimes it comes back on, stays on and other times it comes on goes out and comes on etc.
At first it was just the message, then a few times i have experienced a drop in power which was really strange. I don't think it was limp mode, it will rev round past 3k etc but almost like there is no boost. I have an Icarsoft VOL V3.0 which on first scan brought up a fair few codes, I cleared them and waited. The light message has returned and when scanned it presents 3 Engine fault codes 2A50: Pressure Sensor Particulate Trap 6664: Glow Relay Control 2A70: Pressure Sensor Particulate Trap When I have looked at the live data generally on idle it shows the hpa to be a low number maybe 3 or 4 hpa, when driving that increases into the teens. Some times when idling it will also show a mega number like 65534 hpa then when i drive that reduces back down... I don't know if these are normal readings. The Live data also shows the Glow Relay as Not Activated. I don't have Vida unfortunately which may make this easier to diagnose, but I am assuming the Glow Relay Control points to Glow Plug Cylinder 4 malfunctioning... Any help or pointers would be appreciated... thanks |

glow plug and pressure sensor are both needed for a successful re gen glow plugs can be tested with a multimeter check pressure sensor pipes for splits or leaks before replaceing the sensor

Hiya,
The sensor reading 65534 is a default value. Given your codes, and the engine type etc, check the wiring harness down the back of the EGR. The harness likes to rest against the EGR cooler and rub through giving DPF sensor faults. To access this completely I've normally removed the 12v battery, the battery tray, and then disconnected the DPF sensor and pulled the harness back through an into the engine bay. As for the glow plugs, these do need to be working, but seen a few cars with this code in and they run fine, so would focus on the DPF sensor wiring first. Hope this helps! |
