That would make the most likely convenient point somewhere nearer Winchester unless the seller/donor of the door cards is traveling furhter up the M3. There is a Sainsburys near Olivers Battery which has a restaurant so you could get a coffee etc and is just off the motorway (fairly near where the average speed cameras on that 50mph limit begins) and a few miles (~3 miles if memory serves) there is a Tesco, again just off a roundabout that also has a restaurant for coffee and a sticky bun. The section those average cameras are on between Winchester and Southampton many years ago was known as the A33/Winchester Bypass and had a 50mph limit on then as well. As for turning the M27 into a smart motorway, that's one of the most ridiculous ideas i've ever heard! It's dangerous enough as it is, there's only 2 lanes in each direction plus the hard shoulder and given the amount of accidents and breakdowns along it, not to mention stray aircraft from Eastleigh (Southampton) airport landing on it, making it a so-called smart motorway would be positively lethal! If you do a Google Maps search of supermarkets near Winchester, you should find the two i've mentioned and possibly something i don't yet know of that would be a suitable rendez-vous for exchanging the door cards. If you can't find them, give me a shout and i'll have a look for you.

I used to own a 1998 V90, I loved it, I eventually traded it in for an XC90 in 2008, I wish I still had the V90, I wonder if anyone on here has got it now. It really was a wonderful car and very fast in kickdown.

Now I take my Goddess out for show and shopping and the S80 out for Go and exhaust popping!! Your V90 had a nice colour palate with the Grey Interior complimenting it well and an equaliser on the radio cassette fancy |

Bloody Storm Eunice, so I flippantly decided tomorrow would be the day for my trip to pick up the door cards...
Spent this morning prepping for a good long journey, rimmed filled the S80 and discovered that I could extend the range by nearly 80 miles! Coff ... not the way I drive coff.. but using cruise control maybe.. Checked and topped up the fluids and washer bottle, tyre pressures done and medicines packed. Got the cat in and fed, two litter trays ready for him and then caught the red weather warnings for Bristol and West on YouTube and thought hmm wonder what the storm path is like.. Upshot is not going now! Will have to see what is left intact Saturday after Eunice passes us by... |

So I am back after a round trip of 7 oddish hours and one stop for breakfast and a pee!
All done on one tank of fuel with about 30 miles left in the tank for a cost of around £80 in fuel and £20 in food ... I bought chinese on my way back and I am picking the sweet and sour chicken from my teeth as I trype one handed. Managed a pretty respectable 23.8 mpg from the V8 and Fat Slag #2 behaved herself. Came back feeling like I had not just driven for 7 oddish hours ... thanks Thor for Volvo Seats! So leaving the door cards in Slag #2 for now will get them stored away when the rain stops. |

Thought it was a bit optimistic for a 4.4 V8

It made a 320 mile round trip had 30 odd miles left in the tank so based on tank size I make my back of a sweety wrapper calculation to be 22.7 miles add the tootalling about and my trip to Porcester Castle from Southampton and back and I don't think the cars computer is that far off ..
