Default Disappointing Polestar upgrade

Polestar has juist released their upgrade for a the New XC90 but compared to their previous upgrades this one is rather disappointing.

The bhp goes from 225 to 233 which is an 3.5% increase.

The torque goes from 470 to 500 which is an increase of 6%.

For this Volvo will charge you £ 830 , is this small increase really worth it ?

Will have to think about it !

It isn't just about the power increase, it's also about the changes to the automatic transmission. If I am not mistaken, the new XC90 doesn't have a Sport mode for the gearbox; I'd be particularly interested therefore to see what difference the Polestar optimisation makes to the responsiveness of the 'box. On my V60, it's the improvement to the gearbox I have appreciated most.

Why waste time "thinking about it".
A bit of a no-brainer I would have thought - teach Volvo a lesson at least!

Perhaps instead you could spend the £830 to off-set the difference in price between normal fuel and premium fuel, since that might make just as much difference to the performance of the car.

I think it's £600ish at the moment for a polestar map

We decided to have the Polestar map fitted on our D5 Inscription whilst the car was in for it's QAI.

Must admit it is not bad at all in the mid-range going from say 30 upto 70 but will test it fully when we go home at the end of the month.

The drive should be better on the much smoother and faster Dutch / German roads compared to the roads here in Norfolk.

The price for the upgrade? £ 830 !

Volvo are advertising the current price as £620 discounted form £830 until the end of the year. Is this not the case?

Any more feedback on the upgrade, hopefully collecting my R-Design this week and tempted to get the upgrade done at the end of the year after running the car in

The offer unfortunately does not include the new XC90 D5 engine range, tried it at the dealer but no luck!

Thanks for pointing out the offer out anyway.

I wouldn't have been interested in the Polestar optimisation at £830, but I just had an email from my dealer to confirm that it's a bit cheaper for First Edition owners........£0 in fact! So, why look a gift horse in the mouth?

Have to say I was disappointed at the increases in power and torque, but I have read somewhere that there may be more aggressive remaps made available later on.

Also, apparently Apple Car Play is available form 25 Nov, so I'll be getting ours booked in shortly.

Thanks MickV .. read your post and asked for my free upgrade. I must say the performance mode has increased dramatically for me.
