i was sitting wth my 960 ticking over,then steam poured out of bonnet, had a look, and the little plastic plug had come our of its rubber houseing, it looks like a pressure valve, i put it baqck in and refilled it, the temp gauge did,nt go up,and heater works fine, took car for drive and it drives like new, no water in oil, if water pump is naff the it wud overheat spose it cud be the elecrtic fan sensor, anyone know where this is located, any help ,i realy need car at mo, tnx chaps

The most likely cause is a stuck thermostat - they're notorious for it.

Was this blank in the rad?, if so mine did it a while back, also ran perfect afterwards, I put a cable tied around it just to keep it in place if it happens again. The plug is only a push fit and seems like a damn stupid idea, I've not had a car with this sort of thing before.

thanks chaps, seem to be thermostsat,as rad is cool. heater works, dose,nt seem to be overheatin, so think will replace stat anyway,and yes it seems a silly idea to have a push fit plug, thanks again ....regards kev
