Picking up an XC90 T8 Inscription next weekend

Hello all,

I'm picking up my first Volvo next weekend from an authorised dealer. 2016 XC90 T8 Inscription in Onyx black.

The car has Apple Car Play installed already, but I'm a Samsung user. The dealer tells me that Android Auto can be put onto the car via a software download, but after doing some research I'm not if sure that is right or not.
If I recall, there is only 1 x USB port in the centre console of the car.

Can anyone shed any light on if its possible?

Depends on the model year of the car.

Android Auto wasn't available on XC90s until MY2017. If yours is a MY17 then it may be possible to get Android Auto installed.

If the car is a MY16 then unfortunately it isn't possible to install Android Auto as the car lacks the hardware and it cannot be retrofitted.

I would confirm the model year with your dealer and take it from there.

As you have Apple carplay it should be possible to add Android auto, there is a Volvo deal ongoing at the moment to add both Apple carplay and Android auto. https://www.volvocars.com/uk/buy/fin...rs/mvof3coywml

Thanks for the reply. The description on the paperwork is XC90 ESTATE - 2015 registered in March 2016 so I guess its an early one..oh well..

I'm waiting for a call back from the dealer about the answer to this as well as a few other questions I have.
I do hope its good news, but I'm not going to get my hopes up!
Maybe time to switch to an iPhone..
