Spoke to Volvo this morning they said they would only cover it under my warranty if it fails not noisey and only if the problem is caused by the motor failing

Okay that is a bit odd! Mine replaced it (my passenger one, my other one) even before failure!

They said it says in my warranty that they will only change central locking motors if they fail what a load of crap ninja do you know if it is the motor that gives up or another part within the dead lock ?

As far as I know *do not hold me to this* it is the actual black "unit" on the edge of the door that has been replaced both times for me, only reason I know both times mine have been replaced there is this blue protective "stuff" on the new one.

Well, mines now booked in for the 3rd deadlock (2008 seems to be a bad year for deadlocks). Also a problem with the turbo (sensor i think). Must say, the Volvo dealers have been excellent with regard to honoring warranty related stuff on my 4 and half year old + car. They've never argued about the deadlocks - the only inconvenience is they don't seem to keep much stock of anything so it always means going back a week or two later to get the new parts fitted. I got my car at a good price and i think once these niggles have been sorted i'll have a great car. By the way, i've never not been able to get in or out of the car.
