Default Timing Belt Kit

V70 2.5 5-cylinder
Which timing kit should I buy ?
Do people have a make they like or avoid, and why?
There are some temptingly cheap ones on evilbuy, but no way of knowing how old they are, so belt could be perished before the box is opened.
All advice welcome !

I fully agree with the sentiments - buy locally, and install properly.

As above - Gates, for me. Buy from local motor factor, I wouldn't trust anything from e-bay, no matter what it said on the box, not for such an important item. Change the tensioners too.

On the 2.5, one of the easier belts to change. Plenty of info on this forum about it.
I got a genuine Volvo kit for about £95 delivered.

I got the genuine Volvo bits from FRF Volvo Swansea; with discount wasn't too expensive. Mine needed a water pump too as was weeping once I got in there.

It's not too bad a job to do, and I'd never done one myself before, only ever helped / watched / assisted / got in the way.

I got the cam & aux belts from FRF Volvo, thats all I changed too

Next time, if we get that far maybe I'll do more 'bits' , but those water pumps are generally pretty bullet proof, likewise the tensioner and pulleys....... now where is that wood! lol

Had my belt, tensioners, water pump and aux belt done at a independent for £250. Being down here in rip off south east I did not think that was too bad.

That's good, before I did just my belts I had a quote at a recommended garage. They insisted on doing 'bets and braces' so change everything...... Quote 875€😂

All depends on mechanics attitude mate.I`d assume your bits are about £100 (done 5 volvos so far)so with a new antifreez my quote would be £210
