Default P1800 rear number plate

Is there a correct shape for the rear numberplate on a P1800?
I have seen both square and rectangular ones pictured in books, but the gap on the bumper seems too small for the standard oblong design?

Where are the number plate light(s) situated? The number plate should fit between them (if two) or below it (if one) such that it is illuminated when the light(s) is/are on. This should be fairly easy to ascertain.
All the best, Peter.

IT'S SQUARE AND IT SHOULD BE MOUNTED ON A BRACKET WHICH RAISES IT ABOVE THE LEVEL OF THE BUMPER AND NEARER TO THE LIGHT WHICH ILLUMINATES IT WHICH WOULD OTHERWISE BE INADEQUATE. THIS BRACKET IS OFTEN MISSING THESE DAYS.
