volvo 850 ecu 9140774 ate controller
I need some advice please, I have the above control unit with known fault ABS/TRACS light keep coming on, I've read the article about fixing the unit by soldering some of the joints on the circuit board but don't I would be able to do that, I got a another unit off ebay with the idea of just swapping it over but I keep being told that I that the replacement unit might have to be re programmed but other say that that's not the case they are just plug and play I was thinking of getting the replacement one I got off ebay checked before I swap them because I don't want to put the replacement in and find it's got the same fault!

Why have you started another thread? This is exactly the same question as you asked recently here:
https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=324316 And the answers remain the same. I don't know why you don't have a go at soldering the PCB, it's easy enough, and this is a VERY common fault on these controllers, so the chances that some unknown controller from e-bay will have the same fault are fairly high.

Exactly Luxobarge .. Exactly mate.
I no longer can be bothered to answer any of the ridiculous questions that get asked on here in all honesty buddy. Im done with pump timing for the diesels or offerering any advice to newbies who have no clue.Don't heed the advice given and do something completely different. They range from "I've got a noise from the engine any ideas what it could be" Ffs couldn't be any more vague if you tried .Then you have the fcukwits who post for P3 cars in a P80 section. Seems Iq levels are dropping at an alarming rate of knots these days.
