I have a 2007 V50 1.6D with the same problem. My issue is resolved if I select the 'M' rather than the 'A' airflow option, recycles the cabin air rather than dragging the fumes inside

Yeah, but! If the exhaust is in fact cracked, it's not going to get better on its own, and is a serious safety hazard. Double that in winter!

A properly functioning IC engine should have NO associated fumes forward of the tailpipe.

Default I have a S40 2005 1.6D exhaust fumes found injector leak

Started finding exhaust fumes in the wife's car two days ago, I have just taken the top plastic engine cover only to find that there i leak at the base of the injector, what will the fault be? the actual injector or is there a copper washer as a seal in this Ford engine?

Default cabin fumes

I have a V50 1.6 diesel with the same problem, not the exhaust but the piping that transfers unburt gasses back round to the engne. Drivers side at the back, a plastic pipe to a corugated stainless then to a condenser, the corugated ends of the stainless pipe were blowing out fumes it was restricted with oily deposits but after cleaning it is still blowing out fumes. there is perhaps a blocked filter in the condenser, does anyone know?
