Cool Just picked up my new to me XC60

Hi all

I’ve just picked up my Demin Blue 2018 ‘68’ plate XC60 momentum D4 from Volvo Watford.

I was wondering if there’s anything I should know about the cars features/engine or any problems I should look out for. It’s done 53k miles.

It drives really well and is so comfortable, way more so than my V70 R design which was my first Volvo. I’ve had a little look though some of the settings and things and I’m impressed with what it’s got for a basic model but I haven’t learnt everything and probably won’t unless someone else who’s got one could let me know what cool things it can do. It’s got the normal things like lane assist which is strange for me coming from a car without it, tinted rear windows and the winter pack I believe it’s called with the heated seats and steering wheel.

Because it’s done 53k I would like to know if there is anything I should keep an eye on while it’s under warranty, common failure points. Or just the usual things that could go wrong on any car?

I have noticed it’s a bit clunky between first and second and maybe a tad stiff going into third gear but I can’t be sure as haven’t driven it much having only picked it up today and that could just be a characteristic of the car that I can live with if it’s normal and not cause for concern.

The guys at the dealer are real gents and did the little bits it needed before I picked it up like the drives seatbelt fraying and the drivers door seal had a tear in it. It’s due for a service in June that they’ll take care of and the support battery which they’ll change next week or the week after as well as the drives door trim is starting to lift. Other than those things it’s a lovely car and I’m very happy I bought it.

They should have delivered it with the service already done for you if its due within 3 months, anyway no problem .. why are they changing the support battery do you know? If you get LOW BATTERY messages , it is the normal battery in the left rear of the car needs charging thoroughly as the car has been hanging around a while . this can mean 48 hours on charge at over 15 volts to desulphate it , so they might just put a new battery on.. but NOT the support battery that has an easy life and lasts a LONG time.
Have a good look through the owners manual , get a paper owners manual if you don't have one as you will find everything in there you need to know and will find information you will not find anywhere else. It can be tedious trying to read/look at it on your screen in the car ( It is built in )

Good luck

Thank you so much for the information, the car was saying ‘start stop inactive’ not low power but it does seem to have cured itself over night after I drove it 30 miles.

I’ll keep an eye on it and the manger told me he’s worried and wants me to have it done if the warning doesn’t go away within a few days so he’s got me covered and the service isn’t due until June so he said book it in then and he will give me another car to drive while they do the service and that should give enough time for any problems to arise so they could sort anything else out at the same time like maybe the gear selector is clunky but I’m not sure if that’s normal or not.
Thanks again so far we all really like the car!

I assume it's auto gearbox ? are you saying you get a bump when you put it in D or R ?

From the OP's description I'd assume it was a manual, as they specifically say "it’s a bit clunky between first and second and maybe a tad stiff going into third gear". You'd have no idea about stiffness of gear changes on an automatic.

(You might feel the car surging during gear changes in an auto, and that might feel "clunky", but you'd never use the adjective "stiff" with an auto box).

"Assume" is not a word I use in the motor trade :-)

Nice swerve attempt, but failed miserably.
